Toys R Us Canada Confirms a Data Breach, Says Customer Personal Information May Have Been Accessed

Toys R Us Canada confirmed yesterday that data breach affecting customer information occurred at an earlier point in time. The toy retailer learned of the leak on July 30, 2025 when a post appeared online claiming to contain data from their systems. Toys R Us then hired a third-party investigator to confirm the breach had occurred.

Toys R Us notified customers who had their data accessed. What information was accessed may vary by customer, but includes:

  • customer names
  • addresses
  • email addresses
  • phone numbers

Toys R Us says the breach does not include passwords or credit card information. They advise customers to “be vigilant” and contact their customer service department (customerservice@toysrus.ca) if they receive any emails or text messages that appear to be from Toys R Us asking for personal information. Customers are also advised not to click links or download attachments from suspicious emails.
